This video will describe the design, manufacturing and testing of some gang tooling for the Tormach 8L Lathe. The gang tooling system described in this video consists of two AXA tool post holders and 2 or 3 ER16 Chuck collet blocks. The front tool post holder is used for holding my profile tools. The back tool post holder will be used for my cut-off tools. Two ER16 Chuck extension blocks will be used for using center drills, drills, taps and boring tools. In the first part of this video I will be describing the design and manufacture of this gang tool system. In the second half of this video I will be demonstrating the use of this gang tooling for the machining of three different machined parts. An aluminum stand off bearing for the Accu-Slice system, a brass offset cam for the Accu-Wedge and a Brass sliding nut for the Accu-Wedge system. At the end of the video I will be describing the setup of the PathPilot software to use with the gang tooling. A number of parameters need to be properly set up for the optimum operation of the gang tooling. Finally, after using this gang tooling for several projects, I do have some thoughts on how to improve it even further. I will be describing these planned changes at the very end of this video for the next and hopefully final version of this gang tooling system for the Tormach 8L Lathe which I plan on producing in the next month or so. I do plan on making of video of this next version after it is complete.
