Your horse runs faster than Mary’s horse. Ahmad and Mostafa are both my friends, but I like Ahmad better. Superlative Adjectives: ------------------------------------ Used to compare three or more things. نستعملها للمقارنة بين ثلاثة أشياء أو أكثر My house is the largest one in the neighborhood. Your horse runs the fastest. Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system. Adjectives with one or two syllables: للصفات التي تتكون من مقطع لفظي واحد أو اثنين: Add (-er) for the comparative and (-est) for the superlative. نقوم بزيادة (er) لل comparative و (est) لل superlative Simple Simpler Simplest High Higher Highest If the adjective has a consonant, vowel, then a consonant, we double the last consonant and add (-er) or (-est). إذا كانت الصفة تنتهي بحرف ساكن ثم متحرك ثم ساكن، نضاعف الحرف الساكن الأخير ثم نزيد (er) or (est) Big Bigger Biggest Sad Sadder Saddest If the adjective ends with a “y”, change the “y” into an “i” then add (-er) or (-est). اذا كانت الصفة تنتهي ب yK نحول الy الى i ثم نزيد )er) و (est) Happy Happier Happiest Busy Busier Busiest Adjectives with three or more syllables: للصفات التي تتكون من ثلاث مقاطع لفظية أو أكثر Put “more” in front of the adjective in the comparative and “most” in the superlative. نضع (more) لل comparative أو (most) لل superlative قبل الصفة Important More important Most important Expensive More expensive Most expensive ملاحظة: يمكننا استعمال كلمتي Less = أقل Least = الأقل بدل More و Most For some two-syllable adjectives, we also put “more” and “most” instead of adding (-er) and (-est) to the end of the adjective. ملاحظة: لبعض الصفات المكونة من مقطعين لفظيين، نقوم بزيادة (more) أو (most) قبل الصفة Tilted More tilted Most tilted Tangled More tangled Most tangled Irregular comparative and superlative adjectives: Good Better Best جيد Bad Worse Worst سيء Little Less Least قليل Much More Most كثير Far Farther/Further Farthest/Furthest بعيد We wish you the best of luck! نتمنى لكم حظاً سعيداً وأفضل التوفيق!
